Through the eyes of...puzzles

I started making jigsaw puzzles when I was doing my postgraduate studies in the UK, back in the '80s. Just before the exam period I noticed my friend J. toilling over a (huge for my eyes) 1000 pieces jigsaw whose main colour was yellow (a painting of Jean-Francois Millet). In the apartment we shared we had a spare table where she spread her jigsaw pieces for everyone to see, marvel and perhaps contribute. The 3 figures were completed before the exam period, the remaining pieces looked at everyone with a naughty smile.."eventually you'll come around to us"!
All this yellow was paining my eyes, disturbing my dreams, stressing my being. I was drawn to it, I moved closer only to be repelled ...each piece screamed "don't you dare, touch us". Mixed feelings of attraction to the new and repulsion to the colour.. The first foe won.
One day I had no class I sat in front of the puzzle, said a prayer, and searched for the first piece...
Two hours afterwards, I had successfully put 10 pieces at their place. My friend came and I confessed of my serious crime of prying into her hobbies. Penitent I waited for the verdict..and she laughted..
A sweet beginning to the world of jigsaws.
